Human’s behavior is very complicated and technology has given it a whole new level of complexity. There are a lot of theories that try to explain how people came to behave the way they do. The author Susan Blackmore in her essay “Strange Creatures”, presents to her readers the new theory of “memes” being what shape behavior and compares them to genes and the way genes evolve. Blackmore gives these memes human characteristics like the will to do things and selfishness to try to make the readers understand how they act and their power over human’s behavior; she says that genes and memes are selfish and only want to have themself pass to the next generation. Blackmore express that the idea of memes is scary and that they are the fundament of most of human's behavior. The memes theory states that memes are passing from person to person by human’s natural tendency of imitation. On the other hand Sherry Turkle on her essay “Alone Together”, writes about technology and the way technology and robots are becoming a big part of people’s life. Technology is being seen as equal as or better than humans and that bothers Turkel because that means that robots are better than humans. She shows how computers are replacing the face to face communication and changing the way people interact.
