Sets a Direction Although I have been positively rated in this competency category, I agree that I need to improve on aligning structures, processes and people with the strategic direction. Perhaps one reason why I have been rated a bit low on this category is that in my current job, I am used to taking independent decisions that most of the time I need very little aligning with any team member. In regards, to developing innovating solutions to problems, I do believe that I am innovative in every day work and life practice, but was not able to put it in practice in the last group activity that we had. It is only because, I had to take a back seat to avoid conflict and give way to a certain team member assuming the leader role. In this case …show more content…
I was also among the first ones who wrote my input in our group report and was also the one who said that we should have at least a draft of the group report by Saturday and we should not wait for the last minute (thinking strategically & communicating vision of the future). It was also my suggestion to the team that we should take one competency each to write about and we will consolidate all our inputs by Sunday after class. (Influencing & engaging others).

Manages Performance In this category, I have scored on holding others accountable for performance the lowest, because probably of one instance when I did not say anything when a team member did not deliver the task that was expected of her. I have maintained a passive attitude and did not tackle the issue right on. I have failed to apply the skill of authenticity, because in this situation, I have put my personal values of politeness instead of speaking out and doing what is right for the common benefit of the entire team.

Builds and Leverages Teams I was very lucky to be part of a high performing team; everyone demonstrated the characteristics of being a strong leader.
The feedback I received from my team members in this competency is one of the highest I got. This, I believe is a result of having a very good emotional intelligence, which I think is one of my strengths. I was self aware that everyone in the team has a different personality, and adjusted my way of dealing with each of them according to that. I encouraged the team member who needed encouraging, supported the ones who have the same notions that I had, stepped back when someone wanted to step up, asked for support when I needed it and welcomed feedback when I was not sure of something.

Overall My overall ratings are good with some areas of
