Some strengths and weaknesses of ethnographies are the detailed descriptions that challenge stereotypes, lack of replicability, and bias observations. Ethnography allows a particular community and their stereotypes to be challenged by going in depth on why their lives are the way they are, what their motivations are, what they need, and what their resources are. On the other hand, ethnographies lack replicability, or the ability for a study to be replicated by another researcher to be tested and analyzed for validity. Values and opinions from the researcher can provided bias research which is a negative factor that could affect the research.

During an interview, participants can talk about their personal thoughts, feelings, and beliefs which can provide authentic understandings of their lives. Although interviews allow for authentic, it can also be untrue because the person being interviewed can lie during the interview. Furthermore, interviewing can be time-consuming which only allows for so many people to be interviews which couldn't really demonstrate enough information to represent a vast majority of the community.
Some advantages and disadvantages of conducting surveys is that it is quick and can provide a vast amount of data, reliability, and validity. Surveys can be distributed to a large number of people very quickly which does time and collects more data. The reliability insures uniformed questions being asked.
