In Philbrick's novel, Freak the Mighty,two kids that met in daycare meet again in middle school. As they get bullied,Philbrick develops strong tones and moods between these complex characters and the relationship they are building.A witty Kevin calls Tony a Creatine with confidence when they are on their way to the fireworks. Kevin is self-assured in his statement about Tony because he is how ignorant and naive. Kevin is also standing up for himself and Max. when they were at the fireworks max puts Kevin on his shoulders so he could see. Now that Kevin can see his is yelling out lots of elements that show his love for chemistry. Kevin is joyous and is enjoying his time with Max. The tone and mood is positive until Tony and his gang come. Later
