Posture is the way in which the human body is organised, it is the structure of how we hold ourselves. Posture is a vital part of everyday life; however, many people disregard its importance. It is essential to our daily routines. For example, if bad posture is not recognised and corrected it can cause major pain and problems in the anatomy of our bodies later in life. More importantly, understanding posture is fundamental for bodies training in dance; without correct positioning dancers do not use their bodies to their full extent and ability as the correct muscles are not being used that would be used if alignment is correct. This essay will discuss model two’s postural type and the tendencies they portray, whilst also analysing their structural dysfunction and the effect this will have on dance and movement efficiency. These two lines are made up of collagenous fibres also known as fascia. Thomas Myers explains that fascia is a web of connective tissue and this connective tissue runs through every part of the human body; from top to bottom, the whole body is connected. Myers views fascial connections through a series of lines, the SFL and SBL being two of them.
