Cassidy Jones Mrs. Thomas Honors’ English 11 1 May 2024 Student Debt is Disrupting the American Dream Student debt has been on an upward climb for many years. With more and more students attending college, the cost has skyrocketed. This leaves many people with life-long debts that they need to pay off. Having the extra stress of student debt, along with the cost of living, has made it hard for many people to actually thrive instead of just survive. These factors have also greatly affected Black students. Student debt has brought down hopes of the American dream by having Americans hold onto their debt for many years after graduating, scaring many students that are not financially stable into not attending college even though the benefits, and pushing back many Americans' dreams. Student debt has been holding Americans back from pursuing bigger and better things. Whenever students do not have the burden of student debts, they often move to different states in search of a higher-paying job, continue their education, …show more content…
