STUDENT
HANDBOOK
2013-2014

Dear Student
May I take this opportunity and personally welcome you to the LS Education Group and wish you every success with in your studies. I hope that you will find your classes interesting and rewarding. I can assure you that we will strive to provide you with the highest possible standard of tuition, support and advice. This is our commitment to you.
In return, I hope that you will strive to achieve and maintain a high standard of performance by attending your classes, contributing in lessons and producing work of good quality according to the brief. All of your modules’ learning aids are available on the IMSS, and therefore, accessible from the Internet at any time. Please familiarise yourself with the material so that you are informed at all times about the diverse documentation. Any changes in these materials are also shown on the IMSS; therefore, you need to ensure that you are exploring the IMSS at regular intervals.
Please note that you are required to be attending the classes on time and stay for the duration of the lesson. If you are 15 minutes late, the lecturers have been instructed not to allow you to enter the class and report an absence for you. Clearly, you must understand that late arrivals disrupt the lesson and unfair to those who have arrived on time and to the lecturer who has already commenced the delivery of the lesson.
In addition, it is our expectation that you will be endeavouring to be completing your studies in the best possible way that you can and hence you will be studying and producing work of good standard aiming at passing first time round with a good overall mark. This is very important not only for your own benefit but also because, as already announced at the induction, resubmissions will require more time for you to complete thereby delaying your graduation and there are also resubmission fees thereby increasing the cost of your qualification.
During the term, as shown in your time table, there are no allowances for leave except for extenuating circumstance(s) that are beyond your control and are supported with appropriate evidence. Extenuating circumstances are serious events such as hospitalisation and bereavement and not going to the dentist, for example. Therefore, there will be no leave granted during the term, especially if you are an LS Education
Group sponsored student because this is a UKBA requirement.
Furthermore, there will be no extensions granted for assessment deadlines except for serious mitigating circumstance(s) owed to events beyond your control and supported by appropriate evidence. Having to work and personal limitations in time to complete your work are not considered to be valid reasons for extensions.
Please do not consider the above guidelines as restrictive but rather as a structure to achieve your chosen qualification as hassle-free as possible in an environment that encourages a rewarding educational journey to take place for all.
My very best wishes in your studies

Dr George Panagiotou, LS Education Group Academic Director
