What are the positive aspects of stereotypes, if any?
There can be some positive sounding aspects to stereotyping such as Asians are intelligent. that's a very nice compliment but what if a Asian student actually has a learning disability and doesn't keep up with the rest of the class. the teacher if believing the stereotype will assume the student is lazy and just doesn't want to do the work. or perhaps the stereotype "blacks are good at sports" sounds very nice but lets say a group of kids are playing football they pick a black kid to play because they think he'll be great. turns out the black kid doesn't like football doesn't play well and the team are disappointed with him at the end of the game. the kid leaves feeling disliked by his team mates. I believe stereotypes may sound positive but can still be damming. stereotypes leave little room for individuality people are just expected to be the stereotype they are labeled
What are the negative aspects of stereotypes? the negative aspects of stereotyping is that they are normally untrue. most people believe them and label everyone in a group of some kind. there could be a break in someone’s house and automatically someone thinks it's a black
