The movie Requiem For A Dream (2000) depicts the lives of four people who are caught up in a world of substance abuse which leads each of them to a grim fate. In the end, their addiction and desperation overtake reality, shattering their hopes and dreams.
Throughout the movie, the characters collapse is slowly developed, first humanizing them through their dreams and wishes, to later destroy their humanity, leaving a hollow shell of what they once were.
