The first step is making it in but now how to stay in? College is a way for anyone to further their education and become a more valuable asset in the workforce. People pay thousands of dollars to attend these school but there is always a select few who take this opportunity for granted. Yes, college is a place for learning but it’s also a place for parties, drinking, drugs and many other distractions. Life is all about balance, all work and no play is unrealistic, but so is all play and no work. This paper will describe how to be a successful college student. There are four easy steps to follow. Success is about giving things your best effort. It is easy to the bare minimum, or less than that if you please, but it is just as easy to apply yourself and actually give something your all. In order to follow this step, you must first follow step one and manage your time. Lack of time management can interfere with your ability to do your absolute best.You can start by actually going to class frequently and on time. It is also helpful to sit in the front and at the very least act like you are paying attention. You should take advantage of your professor's office hours for any further questions you may have after class. This shows your professor that you are engaged and they are more likely to help you when you are having trouble with assignments. Also studying is a huge part of applying yourself. Everyone has seen that one student who pulls a stack of papers out of their book bag, only to sort through them and find everything except for the one thing they were looking for. Do not be that student. If you decide to do things on paper you should keep track of all assignments and notes in a notebook or folder for a specified class. For example, put English assignments in your English folder and your English notes in your English notebook. It is easier to do things electronically if you can. It is also helpful to plan and write things down, especially due dates. We have all forgotten about an assignment at least once. A professor could tell you on the 10th that a paper is due on the 22nd and won't speak about it until the day it is due, meanwhile, you’ve forgotten that there was even a paper assignment. If you stay organized and write your assignments down as well as their due dates, that eliminates the problem of forgetting them. Following the syllabus, provided by your instructor will also help you stay organized on on track. Most syllabi are tentative, which means the dates are estimated, but for the most part, some professors try to stick to
