In the short story “Miss Lora” by Junot Diaz, a stereotype mentioned is “sucios”, and how Yunior uses the term to describe the men he knows. Diaz has used this term before when speaking about Rafa about how he had treated the women he has been with. “Sucios of the worst kind and now it’s official: you are one, too (165).” In this moment, Yunior is sixteen, and currently seeing on the side the professor who lives down the street from him, even though he has a girlfriend. In Spanish, “sucio” means someone who is ill-natured in their sexual habits, or filthy.
