Contrary to the well-accepted belief, sucralose has been found to cause blood cell tumors in male rats. Sucralose, sold under the name Splenda, was approved by the FDA as a sweetening agent in 1998, followed by approval as an all purpose sweetener in 1999. In 2016, the same laboratory that conducted the aspartame studies, reported an increased incidence of blood cell tumors in male mice fed high doses of sucralose. Though, the mice were fed high doses that doesn't mean humans could consume high doses as well. If people drink the sucralose on a regular basis this is only causing a greater risk for health issues whereas if it were sugar, there would be no risk other than diabetes which is a lot less harmful then a blood cell tumor. …show more content…
