I am not sure if because of the law or just from being people with compassion and respect but Kitty had amazing support form her family, her nurse and her doctor. You could just see the strength they were pouring out for Kitty and how they never once let their convictions dictate what Kitty wanted to do when it came time end her life. She made the choice and was ready to end her life the way she wanted to with drugs, and at the comfort of her home, but her situation changed when by suggesting by one of her daughters that she should wait until in the morning because her brother or uncle was going to be there to say his goodbyes. Overnight Kitty’s condition changed, and she was able to take the drugs and her death took a few weeks. Ricky did not want to suffer he wanted a peaceful death for not only himself but for his wife. He wanted to say good bye to his church family and then slip into a peaceful sleep where he would eventually die. After many attempts from his doctor and staff members to help Ricky with his pain and the outtakes of delirium the choice was made that included Ricky’s wife was to sedate him enough where he would not wake up again.
