Reading the information on Suicide amongst teens made me really think and become intrigued by the information provided on the topic. Suicide is generally a touchy subject for most people, including myself, but especially after reading the actual facts about it I’ve realized just how important the problem actually is, and how much people overlook it. Personally, I think allot of people believe that suicide is a rare thing that only occurs with people who have severe mental disorders and/or do heavy drugs, but in fact there are over 3500 suicides per year in Canada ALONE, and it’s increasing yearly. Sadly, I feel like suicide is a number that will continue to increase until people know the true importance of this issue, and understand that it’s not just over emotional girls, or people with mental disorders committing. I was shocked to find out that there is actually a higher percentage of male suicides than there are female, but I believe that’s yet another common misconception allot of people have towards suicide. I think this is a very important topic and should be discussed allot more in schools, churches, etc., because its such a touchy subject to so many people, I feel like we shun away from talking about it and actually getting the word out about the real facts regarding the issue, but that needs to stop. Suicide is clearly a very serious issue that’s made its mark in our society, and regardless of the emotional attachment many people have to it, I believe it should still be brought up allot more in order to help the ones who are incapable of helping themselves, and manage their own perceptions of their
