ACL injuries are not discriminatory. Even the toughest, most talented competitors can be affected. In her book, Sum It Up, Pat Summitt can clearly recall the day she tore her anterior cruciate ligament. Summitt played college basketball from 1970-74 and went on to play in the Olympics. In January of 1974, Summitt and UT-Martin were taking on Austin Peay. Her parents and hometown friends had come to watch her play.
