In chapter 14 “War is the Health of the State” Zinn discusses the concept that war serves the interests of the state by promoting its power and control over the people. Zinn would further discuss how war was used as a tool by the government to maintain the authority and the influence it had on people. The chapter would dive into the connection between war and the growth of the state power at the expense of individual freedoms and the lack of agreement. Why isn't war what the people want it to be, rather than the government having total control and influence over the people and what the people want?
