The drug Methamphetamine, also called meth or crystal meth, stimulates the nervous system and is man-made. The drug is blue or white in color and looks like broken glass. Meth is most commonly taken by smoking, dissolving and drinking, swallowing a pill, or snorting a powder. People can make their own meth at home using supplies from drug or hardware stores. Methamphetamine is very addictive and can harm your body in really dangerous ways. Methamphetamine can attack the central nervous system, which is the brain and spinal cord, the CNS is responsible for the body's functions. Meth is responsible for causing neuronal death, which is the loss of neurons in the central nervous system. Once neurons in your brain have been lost they can not be regained. Michigan has some of the most production and dealing of the drug in the United States. There was a meth related explosion in Detroit just five years ago. An at home meth maker had caused an explosion while mixing dangerous materials. These materials and chemicals are often dropped off on Michigan’s highways and public areas and it cost anywhere from $500 to $2,500 to clean it up.

A report in 2008 by the United States government said that 13 million people above the age of 12 used the drug. 4.5% of highschool seniors in 2007 reported that they have tried meth at least once in their life.
