‘AAPI Inclusion in the fight for Racial Equality’ presentation was about a case that was injustice for an African American citizen and Officer Peter Liang. We were able to see both the African American and the Asian community perspective. This case relates to the Black Lives Matter movement because of how the unarmed African American was killed. Even though the Asian cop Liang killed an unarmed African American accidently he didn’t get the same treatment as a white police officer who have shoot an unarmed person based on the color of their skin. These white police officers get special treat because they are white and they are able to get away with an injustice murder on an American citizen of color. The perpetual foreigner syndrome is known as Asian will not assimilate to Americans culture and is seen through macroaggression such as through the questions as ‘Where are you from?’ or ‘Do you speak English very well?’. As an American Ecuadorian, I can relate, to these macroaggressions because I have been asked question similar to these based off of how I look which usually is the first thing asked. Questions like these shouldn’t really matter and no one be treated differently based off of where they are from or how they look cause at the end of the day we are all human beings. A great example was given in the other presentation I attend called the “Passing for White: “Living with an Ambiguous Cultural Identity which the presenter said “if I tell you where I am from? are you going to treat me different?” or how her white friends got mad at her for supposedly for not telling them her identity as a half Mexican woman because she response to a races joke that they made and she didn’t
