Words: 379
Pages: 2

Adam Braun is undoubtedly a courageous and humble man who understands the value of perseverance. As he takes us through his story in his book The Promise of a Pencil, we learn that he is a strong leader with a level head and a good heart. He found the courage to remain calm on a boat that was at the mercy of a dangerous storm in the Pacific as well as on a bus surrounded by dangerous thieves in Guatemala. He humbled himself by giving up his plans of a well-off, comfortable life style to provide access to education for children who otherwise would have had little to none. Once he had created Pencils of Promise, Braun pushed for his cause relentlessly, even when his own family, specifically his dad, did not agree with the decisions he was making.
