Character Lena Haloway is one of the many uncured that learned to live on her own. Her personalities changed from being confused and obedient girl into being resistant. She became a fighter, and fought for her life as she doesn't have anyone to rely on. Lena then learned to be cold hearted as she live her life to forget her pasts and focus on the present. She's also the type of girl that would do anything to help others.

Setting
Most of the story takes place in the Wilds. The Wilds is sometimes called the Invalids, it's where Protestants lived, and it was the old cities and towns that have been bombed and then abandoned, so there are some valuable things that they could use. The homesteads are mostly underground and stone, so there are no windows and the stairs led upward. There is a long hallway, rooms with no doors that have supplies, and a big room where everyone eats. The surroundings outside are enormous trees, grass, and other buildings that have burned from blitz.
