In Dana Gioia’s, “Why literature Matters,” he does a tremendous job of persuading readers on why literacy is important. Throughout the article, Dana states opinions, facts, and examples in order to display his claim. All throughout Dana’s article, he states examples from studies and surveys to create a sense of professionalism and evidence that may have the potential to catch a reader’s eye. The studies used are also executed by well known names such as the US Bureau, along with well known reporting companies such as Wired magazine.
