I would like to discuss Thomas King’s mother’s story about the sexism she experienced and express how I feel about intersectionality. King’s mother has a story like countless other women who have been held back by their sex. She lived in a time where questioning the white man was dangerous and she was forced to accept less than she deserved. I am confused about how King is discussing intersectionality because at this point it seems as though he is only discussing his mother, who is white. I would be able to understand better if his mother had not been white because then she would be discriminated for both her race and her gender, creating a unique category of compounded prejudice. I am hoping someone can clarify this for me.
King did not indicate
