Jon Meacham’s “American Dream” (2012) asserts the idea that the American Dream is the success of an individual which can be better portrayed through a job. Meacham makes a clear point that the middle class Americans are the “working class” and represent what politicians want to reward and support nationwide. Politicians such as Reagan, Clinton, and now Obama, have worked towards the middle class; it’s essential that we work in order to achieve equality of opportunity and outcome which is the American Dream of success. Meacham’s final claim is that we are the new faces of the country and a positive outcome on us, the nation, and the American Dream can start with simply a job.
