Foremost, Ramona should examine the ethical behaviors of the spokesperson for the company. The CEO of a company that is ethically sound would reflect honest values and show integrity for the company. The CEO for Next Step Herbal Health showed none of these qualities. By speaking harshly to the woman with the crying infant and publically humiliating her the CEO shows his lack of empathy and understanding to basic human needs. He projects his opinion of a crying infant on the entire group when, …show more content…
By mocking religious traditions such as saying “Amen” he persecutes a group of people that Ramona is a part of. The words he uses in his production such as “fat, lazy, lethargic Americans” are inconsistent with a company that values all life. He looks down on people that are not in his image and judges them for being different. Not only does the CEO use language that is unethical for business but he puts on an unnecessary show for the attendees with cheerleaders and a flashy display. He is purely in the business to make money. While making money is never a bad thing for a business owner, doing so at the expense of hurting others shows that the CEO has little principle, if any. Audi and Murphy emphasize on intrinsic characteristics of integrity by explaining that “Possessing these traits requires (among other things) certain attitudes toward others, such as a kind of respect, certain kinds of intentions in interpersonal relations, a sensitivity to the difference between right and wrong.” (Audi & Murphy, 2006). These basic characteristics for integrity are absent from the actions of the CEO and Next Step Herbal Health. Ramona’s search for information led her to the “gripe site” which gave insight on the inner workings of the company and their distributors. The requirements the company has made for the distributors has caused several of them to fail and fall into bankruptcy. If the company has any integrity they would look at what they can
