Every time he says the phrase “Shake the Dust,” he hesitates, so the audience can take his words to heart and pays attention. The poem is specifically directed to the people who are usually looked down upon and Mojgani says “Shake the dust” a numerous amounts of times. The repetition of this quote is crucial and has a significant interpretation behind it. Shake the dust means to live life in its entirety and to rise above your difficulties. He says, “Do not let a moment by that does not remind you that your heart beats 900 times a day and there are enough gallons of blood to make you an ocean” (Mojgani). He is saying to never forget why you are a part of this world and no matter what struggles you face, keep moving forward. He shows people that everyone is important to this world and everyone needs to learn to admire themselves. He also says, “And take me with you when you do for none of this has ever been for me,” and repeats “pushes and pulls” multiple times. He hopes that the people listening to his poem will take his words as a gift. He hopes that his audience is inspired by his words. He hopes that people will “grab [his] world by its clothespins and shake it out again and again”
