Joel Olson’s “The Abolition of White Democracy” first few chapters dive into the concepts of white supremacy. His claims of white supremacy go beyond the physical characteristics and genetics of a person and bleed over into the social and political views of groups of people that hold the distribution of power. In chapter one, he breaks down the word “race” and its uses and purposes and how it plays into a multicultural nation such as America. He raises the question of the use of race as a method of lumping or grouping a subclass of poor immigrants for the purpose of discrimination.
