In Coretta Scott Kings piece, “The Death Penalty is a Step Back,” Mrs. King thinks the death penalty is wrong. The people of America strongly disagree with her because times have changed from when she wrote that piece we need the death penalty. Reasons for the death penalty are people go through trials to decide if they are deserving of the death penalty or not, criminals usually revert back to killing so we need to stop it as soon as possible , and we treat people equally no racism like when Mrs. King wrote her piece. Most inmates return to prison shortly after being released because they either can’t stand the real world or they have a taste for blood and have to conquer it by killing others.
Next people go through trials to decide if they are deserving of the death penalty or not. Take the James Holmes trial for example he went to the courthouse many times to try to prove his innocence he didn’t just walk in and get life in prison. Now I know that their are those who would say their are people convicted wrongly, but the truth is more people are proven innocent when on death row than life in prison. Finally, we treat people equally we don’t have as much racism. We have almost completely abolished all racism in our schools and public places. Statistics prove that their are more white people on death row or have been killed by the death sentence than their are black people.According to deathpenaltyinfo.org the U.S. death row population by race blacks are at 41.67% to the whites 42.77%. People can say look at the media but what power do we have over what they do plus I said almost completely abolished
