The Dred Scoot decision also called the worst decision made by the supreme court, was a case brought to the supreme court in which slave Dred Scoot sued for his freedom after the death of his master claiming that he was taken to and lived in a free state were slavery was not legal, so in a sense he was a free man and not a slave anymore. During the period of his court case the Northern and southern states were still divided on the issues of slavery expanding into the territory in the United States.
