“The Goophered Grapevine” is something that we now call an urban legend which is a horrific story being told as truth which involves trickery and deceit. I did not enjoy the story, because of the moral implications of it, and I also did not like stylistic technique of the dialect speech of his African American characters, maybe it’s a cultural thing because I am black. I do not like to hear people speak that way, I have a friend that talks that way, and she has a Master’s Degree. She writes one way, and she speaks another, and she always wonder why she cannot find a job. I know I should tell her, but I do not want to hurt her
