In this visual rhetoric, the artist attempts to show how different American student’s attitude towards school is, in contrast to other nations. In the picture, the american student is depicted as being the only one not currently in school, while the other students are hard at work. Many countries, particularly in the eastern half of the world, attend school nearly all year-round, While american schools have nearly two and a half months off for vacation, not including national holidays. Labeling helps the audience to know what it is that the artist is commentating on.
