On Wednesday, August 31 at 10:00 am, I attended the very first convocation of the year at Pepperdine University’s Firestone Fieldhouse to hear President Andrew K. Benton speak. President Benton has served as president of Pepperdine University for 16 years. He is highly respected and beloved by students and faculty alike not only because of his authoritative position but because he is a leader who truly cares about each attendee.
President Benton began his speech with a folktale titled, Stone Soup. Within the story, a group of travelers enter a strange town with an empty pot in which they hope some of the townspeople will share their food.
