The first shot, which is serve, is the only shot in tennis where a player has full control of it and can decide how to start a point. This article focused on analyzing the serve and return game of players by analyzing collected data from professional tennis tournaments which were held on clay courts. The goal of this study was to analyze collected information about what kind of type services players were using mostly and where players tried to place the ball in order to begin a point. In order to do that, researches decided to examine three types of serves such as flat, topspin and slice and divided the service court into three areas. Authors of the article did find out that players for the first serve rather chose flat serves, while for the second serve most frequently used was a topspin serve. Also, it was found out that type of tennis serve affected the placement of the ball into the service square, while flat serves were most often being placed in the center of the court and topspin together with slice serves were usually going wide direction. Authors of the article did conclude that making the first service increased the probability of winning a point when they compared it to the number of won points after the second serve. Another conclusion of this article was that the servers were picking to serve topspin second serves due to slow clay court surface attributes. This study is closely related to my research project since it provides information about different types of serves used in the game of tennis and how tactics are based on the court surface, in this case clay court. This article provided me information that type of serve used might have an influence on the service efficiency and speed. It would be interesting to find out what kind of services are most often used while playing on other
