The article “The visual dehumanisation of refugees” by Roland, David, Emma and Xzarina applies the interpretive approach of qualitative research. In this approach, it is usually subjective to the constructed reality and seeks to affirm the relative truths (Walsh, 2001, p.90). It typically calls for the need to explore, explain and understand reality and it is qualitative in nature (Gratton and Jones, 2004, pp.28). The total number of images sampled was 87 featuring the asylum seekers. This method was the most appropriate for the research since it was interpretive in nature. The coded pictures and analysis of the available literature provided enough data to reach to a conclusive decision on the fate of asylum seekers in Australia. The research was also based on the psychological impact of the pictures on the individuals as a result of the picture emotional influence on the individuals who saw the front page pictures. As identified in the research, a group of people was less likely to result in emotional impact on the viewers as compared to a single image of a refugee. Thus, the various approaches used by researchers in both articles effectively met the need of the
