You know a teacher that always seems to hate you no matter what you do? Well that is Holling Hood’s life, at least that’s at least what he thinks. In this story called “The Wednesday Wars” it takes place in the 1960’s around the time the Vietnam war was going on. It also tells us about the complexities of Holling going through 7th grade. It goes deeply into first impressions and how they may change over time. The first evidence for this is that Holling’s first thought on Mrs. Baker is that she hates him; this is proven by when he thinks “That's when I knew she hated my guts”, the reason he believes this is because of the way Mrs. Baker acts like when she rolls her eyes at him and uses an annoyed tone.
