The author of “Heros’s Test” shows the reader that Theseus, the main character, is a hero because he personifies courage and integrity. The author of this story, Alisoun Witting, shows Theseus’ traits in both his actions, and her descriptions of Theseus. Theseus shows courage because, he says, “I will kill the Minotaur myself, and free Athens from this disgraceful tribute to Minos.” Theseus volunteered himself for a dangerous job, all because he wants to free Athens. Theseus also displays a great amount of integrity. Theseus shows integrity because even though he is the king’s son, he still wants to have an equal chance to be chosen as a tribute.
