New York City is the most populous city in the United States. The first inhabitants of this city were the Lenape and the Algonquin people who mainly participated in hunting, fishing and cultivation. These were the major activities that enabled these people to earn their living. It is among the cities in the United States that encountered depression in terms of development. The depression emerged from the Revolutionary War that took place in the 18th century.
