Chapter three of A Different Mirror, covers the origins and history of slavery for the Blacks and the Whites (Irish, English, German, etc.) In the year 1619, Virginia, there was no laws legalizing slavery. Black and white slaves were brought here alike to become indentured servants for four to seven years in order to payback the expense of their travel. Black and white slaves had very limited insight to one another creating feelings of hostility and fear.
