On February 1, 2018, I attended The Hudson Valley New Teacher Institute event at Marist College. The event started off with the New Paltz middle school principal Dr. Richard Wiesenthal as the keynote speaker. Dr. Wiesenthal shared many tips that he felt we should know and follow such as patience is key, be a leader, be visible, be positive, if you have questions ask, make sure you get out of your comfort zone and don’t be the problem be the solution. The next part of the event, there were two 45 minute panel sessions and we had four choices to choose from and attend including curriculum and planning, legality and the classroom, building relationships in the school community and the art of co-teaching.
