Children are more likely to engage in more positive behaviors and do better on intellectual tests when they’re parents actively play with them. Tough states that, “The children who parents were counseled to play more with them did better … on tests of I.Q., aggressive behavior, and self-control.” Basically, this quote is making the point that in the experiment discussed in the article, the parents who were trained to play more with their children – not simply give them milk like the other group in the experiment – did much better when it comes to social behavior, like controlling themselves, reduce aggression, and intellectual benefits.

The author mentions that her client is slept with her boss expecting a promotion. The author adds that. “Bad behavior like this can really damage your professional reputation – not to mentioned get you fired.” The author is explaining that employees who engage in misconduct at work, like sleeping their boss, can significantly harm their reputation or lose their job. I think this point is true because your reputation takes a lot of time to build at work. Usually, you need to be some of the following things to build your reputation, including being hardworking, honest, respectful and avoiding any behaviors that would damage the organization. To build a good reputation, as an employee, you need to do these things consistently and over a period of time. When an employee engages in misconduct at their job and gets caught, they have just about destroyed their reputation or prevented themselves from building a solid reputation, which can help advance their career in terms of promotions or higher paying jobs. A damaged reputation can also affect a person’s long-term career because certain jobs will need to talk to your past employer before hiring you, so getting fired from a previous job means that it might block a person from future jobs, slowing down their professional career. Finally, a person who is fired after employee misconduct can lose valuable wages that they might need to support themselves and or their family. Typically, it takes a while for most people to get a new job and not everyone has money saved or people to support them when they’re not working. Therefore, the person who is fired and damage their reputation will struggle financially, such as paying bills, until they can get a job. Clearly, employee misconduct at work can damage a person’s reputation and can cause a serious of negative consequences beyond getting fired, like hurting your long-term career and lead to the loss
