Understanding the campaigning process is vital to making informed voter decisions, yet, many voters don't. For this particular reason, we chose to make that the topic of our project. The campaigning process encompasses many different facets which range from how politicians garner votes to how to ensure a responsible decision is made when voting. We chose to focus on four crucial topic . Firstly, Nestor focused on the strategies used by politicians to garner votes. Secondly, Vanessa explained how to recognize which candidate truly represents your beliefs. Thirdly, Jessica describes how technology has changed the way politicians reach voters. And finally, Jamie elucidates on the influencing factors that contribute to voters voting how they do. …show more content…
In the context of my video it simply means being politically aware by watching the news and keeping up with current events. A shockingly astounding number of Americans today aren't politically literate, and in this particular time, one cannot afford to be politically illiterate. People must be politically literate if they are to make an informed voter decision. Imagining the fact that people who aren't truly aware of this country happenings nor what their chosen candidate truly stand for are deciding the faith of the American people is downright scary. Candidates tend to try to appease the current general population by conforming to whatever it is that the people currently want. Even if these desires diverge from their own personal beliefs. This inevitably leads to the unfulfilled demands of the public once a candidate is elected. A way to try to demystify how candidates truly feel about a particular issue is to research statements they’ve made in the past. By doing a bit of digging, a voter is able to discern if they should be voting for candidate x, y, or z.
Moreover, in my last point, I aim to emphasize the importance of political involvement. In this era of political apathy, being political involved places voters at an extreme advantage in several ways. Firstly, it allows voters to make firm stances on different issues and better choose candidates that align with their beliefs. Secondly, being politically involved allow voters to become aware of just how much each individual vote counts. And lastly, being politically involved at the state or local level can procure real and tangible changes in voter's
