The Sun Dance and other ceremonies of the Oglala division of the Teton Dakota originally is an anthropological paper of the American Museum of Natural History. According to the museum, this work is an important record of the knowledge of the native civilization. The book contains the description of Sun Dance ceremony, The Hunka ceremony, briefly about buffalo ceremony, translation of texts, and all narratives. The introduction explains gods in Oglala culture and how they worship their gods. They simply did not worship their gods, and they considered them as supermen, whose aid could be invoked.
