Susanna was born six months after parents wedding in May 1583, she was raised in Stratford, London. She was christened in the Holy Trinity Church on May 26, 1583. Two years later in January of 1585 her twin siblings Hamnet and Judith were born. Sadly, eleven years after the twin’s birth Hamnet Susanna’s younger brother Hamnet died of a disease. Around the year 1610 Susanna’s father William went to London to try and perused his career. According to the Elizabeth Settlement men and women were expected to receive Communion three times a year. May 5, 1606 Susanna was called a recusant because she did not receive her Holy communion on Easter, but her charge of being a recusant was not perused.

The man who accused her is named John Lane he also accused her of having a type of sexual transmitted disease. Some people thought that John Lane’s charges or accusations were a political movement to make Susanna become infamous. July 15th John Hall brought a suit of slander against John Lane in Consistory Court. Three years later Robert Whatcott testified for John and Susanna Hall, but John Lane did not show up. John Lane was then founded guilty in 1619 for slander for the attacks on the Vicar and aldermen, he was also called a drunkard.
