Susan’s willingness fits into altruism, rather than egoism. Altruism is motivation of helping others to improve their welfare, which fits in well into Susan’s behaviour. She believed in helping the kids, not to benefit herself but solely to improve their living, give them all they deserved and much more. Where the biological parents of children gave up, Susan did not and stood by the children despite the fact that she was unemployed and knew the journey would be challenging in all aspects.
