Born on April 5, 1761 in Fredericksburg, NY. Sybil Ludington was the daughter of the colonel Henry and mother Abigail Ludington. Sybil was oldest of twelve kids. Because of this, her childhood consisted of her taking care of her eleven younger siblings. But Sybil Ludington was more than a colonel’s daughter, farm girl, and big sister. She is an American hero. And on the day April 26, 1777, she proved it! On 4/26/1777, Danbury, Connecticut was being raided for their military stores by British troops.
