On 15 December, Man Haron Monis got into a Lindt chocolate cafe in Sydney and held hostages (ten customers and eight employees). The Sydney Police department treated the event as a terrorist attack. There were negotiations between the police and Monis, but no significant effort was made.
After 16 hours, a hostage, Tori Johnson being shot, and police officer stormed the cafe. Monis the gunman and another Katrina Dawson was killed.
