In America many people argue whether sports in high school is good or bad. Most high schools through out the United States of America have sports implemented in their daily school schedule. High school sports have a positive impact on the athletes and the high schools. This is proven to be true due to the many studies that have been done on this topic. High school sports have many reasons on how they have a positive impact on players like improving their way of performing of doing things in school, lowing the chances of getting into trouble with the law, and it improves the athletes’ academic skills. First, high school sports are positive is because it changes the way on how the athletes do things in school. An example of this is from Crime Lab at the University of Chicago they state that high school sports forge long-term improvements in the athletes’ study habits which affects their grades in a satisfactory way. This means that the athletes receive good grades due to their proficient study habits. “Athletics are significantly, positively related to lower dropout rates as well as higher test scores” (Source 1). This means that the sports in schools improve test scores, which leads to them getting higher grades and lowering the dropouts in high school. For example, a study shows that the sports players have a low chance of participating in violent crimes. In other words there is a low chance of the players of getting themselves into a life of crime. “Participants were less likely to have had an encounter with the juvenile justice” (Source 1). In other words the study that was conducted showed that the participants, they are high school athletes, had a low chance of getting prosecuted.
