The presence of daylight savings time is not as common internationally and has not been standardized for along time. It has only been standardized in the U.S. since only ten years ago (Source A) and is not observed in some US territories, such as “Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, and etc” (Source B). Thus, may confusions persist to exist even in the domestic areas as to when DST starts and where exactly DST applies. For many immigrants, tracking the time to contact their relatives in homeland might be inconvenient as well since not many countries participate in DST. For example, on special occasions such as birthdays or celebrations in my homeland, my family members have to take into a account the additional hour or the standard time of the U.S. to make sure that they do not call at the inconvenient time. Thus, my relatives are often muddled by when they have to call. Also, the adjustments to DST is n important issue. Not only does it have “unintended health consequences” (Source E) but also, the disconnection between the body time before makes adjustment difficult. For instance, at the time Daylight Savings end, some forget or are unable to get up because of the disruption in body pattern.
