Inquiry Essay Rough Draft Picture a person who dropped out of high school, has a drug addiction, and is sitting at home, not bothering to get a job. Now imagine that our government provides this person with assistance in paying for rent, electricity, and food. This is unfortunately a very common situation for many Americans. These sources include "The United States Census Bureau," "National Poverty Center," and Global Issue's "Poverty Facts and Stats." These sources provided clear and nonbiased information on poverty. One source that I chose to draw information from (titled "Do Poor People Deserve Help") was extremely biased. I chose to use this source because it gave insight on the other point of view, which helped me compose a better argument by noting what was incorrect about the statements in the article based on the facts I gathered from the non-biased …show more content…
It is not fair for the other 75 percent of Americans, and it is not fair for actual poor people who cannot help themselves. It is not difficult to differentiate an honest poor person from a lazy citizen, so it's time we stopped wasting money on anyone who claims to be needy. In the United States of America, we build our own lives through hard work and dedication. If we stop paying for poor people, then perhaps it will motivate them to do that, rather than have our government do it for
