I have been taking ballet since the age of two and a half, and have not stopped. When I first started taking ballet classes, I did not see the importance of it and felt that I was just wasting my precious time. However, the last couple of years I have come to take every possible ballet class that is offered at my dance studio because it teaches you valuable life lessons. Through ballet I have learned the importance of dressing in the proper dance attire (a leotard, pink tights, choice of skirt/shorts, ballet shoes, and hair in a bun) requires the same amount of discipline as working on a job that calls for a specific uniformed look. By having a dance instructor lead the class with various combinations of movement, ballet also causes the dancers to focus on their memory, which would be an advantage for any job. Just as African Americans are, in my opinion, the base for dance ballet is the foundation for all dance styles. Jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, tap, et cetera are all examples of the types of dance that have some sort of ballet step incorporated into it. I would introduce the ballet shoes to the people at my travel destination as a way to bond over cultural music or dances that hold some importance to them as well as share a few of my own moves and technique with those
