A couple years ago, there was an incident when a taco shell company, StarLink, had made food that had illegal products to make genetically modified organisms. I interviewed several companies and the president of StarLink, and here’s what their representatives thought:
The StarLink President owned up to his actions. That it was an accident. He didn't realize the taco shell contained an illegal ingredient. Even though it had an illegal ingredient for humans, our company stated that it should only be used for animals, not humans. We also only sold the corn to farmers. Who then distributed the corn in elevators. Which go to place everywhere to make new food.

The Taco Loco Company knows the struggle to get the correct ingredients. As a company that travels to supply food for events, they still decided to keep up and running. Our products didn't have any contact with StarLink. So we believe our products are still safe to consume.
The Department of Agriculture is a department that works with the USA Government, the group knew this was a serious situation. They knew they had to keep an eye on this company. Later in August of 2013, they had another mishap, but in Saudi Arabia. That's when the department knew something was not going right and that they needed to stop until they figured out the issue.
The Protect Our Plants service group thinks that you should not be able to sell GMOs if you have caused harm to people AND the environment. StarLink could've killed someone making these harmful foods. Even though they say humans should not eat their products, there are people dumb enough to do things like this.
